In his early days of coffee farming, Delfin Lazo, owner of El Diviso farm, planted 4,000 coffee trees in a small area of the farm where he worked. He hoped to get his first harvest and sell it for a good price, but everything was lost in moments. While farm workers were attempting to clear fallen tree logs that were blocking the road, they accidentally set them on fire. It was only a matter of moments before the fire spread into the farm, ending Delfin's dreams.

However, a year after the incident, and upon his marriage to Estela, Delfin needed a source of income to secure a better life. He turned his attention back to the farm. After selling his simple possessions, which included a chicken coop and a sewing machine, in addition to a small amount of savings, Delfin returned to tending and managing the farm with his wife Estela after they settled in a small, dilapidated hut on the farm. After harvesting his first crop and heading to sell it, he heard words he didn't quite understand at the time. Yet, the buyers who tasted some samples told him that his coffee crop was distinguished by aromatic and caramel notes. Delfin lacked sufficient experience to interpret this information, but he insisted on learning more and more about coffee and participating in local coffee producer competitions.

Now, after 48 years spent by Delfin Lazo and his wife Estela producing coffee and exporting it to various parts of the world, Delfin, his wife, children, and grandchildren work on El Diviso farm to produce one of the highest quality and most highly rated crops globally.
